Why Brain-Body Training Works
Did you know your nervous system is your brain and the nerves that run down your spine and into your tissues? The brain and nerves communicate back and forth through stimuli and signals based on past events and current input or information you are downloading into your brain, mainly through your senses. When the nervous system isn’t given the correct information, it can cause there to be miscommunication between the brain and the nerves causing all sorts of issues. When the brain can talk efficiently to the nervous system, this is where the magic happens. Mobility helps clear up these pathways.
When the brain senses a threat, it tightens joints, limits motion, turns up the pain dial, and tries to stop you no matter what (hints the exhaustion and lack of motivation) even when nothing is actually injured. It’s about how the brain perceives threat.
Brain-Body Training uses simple brain-led and body-led drills along with other tools to show your brain it’s safe so you can feel better, move freer, and feel more like you again.
As stated above, mobility helps clear up the pathways from the brain to the body and is a powerful and underused brain-body tool. Here are some reasons mobility is such a powerhouse:
Mobility is so important for brain-body communication because:
your joints contain mechanoreceptors that send feedback to your brain, along with releasing feel good sensations, so when you do mobility you improve spatial awareness, balance, coordination and establish trust between your brain and body.
you reeducate movement patterns that could be causing your aches and pains. You are rebalancing the joint which is easing strain, improving circulation and communication from brain to body.
not only is mobility good for flushing out inflammation & nourishing the tissue but you're stimulating the rest or safety part of your brain which helps with emotional regulation.
Your body thrives when it is able to fully move through healthy, full ranges. Movement is Medicine.

Hi! I'm Feather and will be helping you along this journey. Here is a little about me and my story of how I got here.
I have a special place in my heart for the person that has had a setback or having trouble with their movement journey. I had a stroke 12 years ago and went from teaching group exercise 25/hrs a week to sleeping 22/hrs a day. I was scared of doing anything that may cause me an issue. Everything felt different. I couldn't approach life like I had and to be honest no one wanted to help with me either. I was too damaged for a trainer but not damaged enough to be given PT so I put on my big girl pants and got to work on myself. In 2 months I was back to teaching fitness again but in a very different way. Now after 12 years and adding brain-body drills to my daily routine I can finally do movement with a lot of direction changes. I get less headaches and I don’t have the dizzy/ motion sickness feeling as often. I now know what works for me because I let my brain be my guide and take control. I healed more in the first 4 weeks of doing brain-first drills than in the last 12 years of doing everything else.
I don't want anyone to ever feel lost in the cracks or a burden when all they want is to start moving and healing their body. I am here for you!
This all started a long time ago as I have always had a love for movement and love studying and knowing as much as I can about the body. I have been helping people move better for 25 years. I have training in a lot of different areas that include Pilates, Yoga, Corrective Exercise, Massage, Stress Management, TRX, Muscle Imbalances, Stretching, Meditation, Life Coaching, Mobility and so much more including a BA in Psychology. I am also a licensed massager therapist, who gets called "empathetic, compassionate, intuitive and caring" often.
I now use all of my knowledge and inner understanding to develop simple, smart, brain forward courses and challenges to help anyone MOVE BETTER, HURT LESS, DO MORE.
